Google Pixel 7a launch expected on May 10, check specs and other details

If we refer to the previous launch patterns of Google phones, it is likely that Pixel 7a is will be launched at Google's upcoming I/O developer conference. The search giant has already confirmed that its Google event will take place in the United States on May 10, where it will also debut its latest Android 14 operating system. But what about the launch of the Pixel 7a in India, and what might its price and specifications be? Here is what we can expect.

For several reasons, Google is unlikely to skip the launch of the Pixel 7a in India. The company's budget-friendly Pixel A series has been well-received and is well-established in the country. In the past, the tech giant has skipped several flagship phones for the Indian market, but it has released all of its latest devices in the Pixel A series, with the exception of the Pixel 5a due to a chip shortage at the time.

The higher price point of Pixel 6a disappointed many Pixel phone fans. However, after some time, the price of the mid-range phone dropped significantly, which pleased many users. Ruth Porat, the company's CFO, reported that the Pixel 6a had a significant impact on Google's hardware revenue growth because sales were very high. All things considered, the tech giant is expected to bring the Pixel 7a to India at some point this year.

 

Google Pixel 7a Expected Specifications

The Pixel 7a will most likely be powered by Google's Tensor G2 chipset. It is rumoured to feature LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It is expected to retain a 6.1-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution. The panel may have a 90Hz refresh rate, which would be a slight improvement over the Pixel 6a's 60Hz screen. The device could have a 4,410mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging technology, and the retail box may not include a charger, as per leaks. It is high time for Google to begin supporting faster charging speeds, as there are now Android devices with at least 65W or 80W charging technology.

A triple camera setup may be placed at the back, with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 primary sensor. This would improve the 12.2-megapixel main sensor on the Pixel 6a. A 12-megapixel ultrawide Sony IMX712 camera could support it. According to speculations, the 5G phone could be available in arctic blue, carbon, cotton, and jade colour variants.

The device may also come with stereo speakers. Great software experience should be intact as it is one of the key selling points of Pixel phones.

Google Pixel 7a Expected Price & Availability

We may see the pricing of Google Pixel 7a between $450 and $500 in the US market (approximately Rs 37,100 to Rs 41,200). Its predecessor, the Pixel 6a, was launched at the same price as the Pixel 5a, which was available for $449 (approximately Rs 36,900). Similar to Pixel 6a, we may expect Google to introduce Pixel 7a in the Indian market within 2 months of its US debut. So, we might get our hands on the new device by July of this year. However, nothing is officially confirmed yet.
